How to tell whether a sneaker sale is actually a good deal
A lower number on the tag is not the whole story. Use the retailer listing — not marketing copy — as your source of truth.
Compare sale price to reference price
Look for a meaningful gap between the current price and the retailer's reference or compare-at price on the same product page. If only one price is shown, treat it as the retailer's current offer, not a guaranteed historical high.
Check the model and colorway
Similar names can refer to different colorways or seasons. Match style codes or photos before you assume two listings are the same shoe.
Factor in shipping and returns
The best headline price can change after shipping or if returns are limited on sale items. Review the retailer's policies on their checkout page.
